Reachable by a 45 minute ferry out of Woods Hole, boat or plane, Edgartown, located on the picturesque island of Martha’s Vineyard, is one of New England’s quintessential oceanfront communities.
The area was a major whaling community with many homes built by whaling captains that have been carefully preserved until present day. While some live year round, Edgartown is a typical Cape Cod & Islands’ community that flourishes during the warmer summer months with visitors and tourism. Quaint streets including Main Street, North and South Water streets boast the most beautiful homes, unique shops and waterfront setting overlooking the active fishing and sailing harbor.
A large draw to the area is the choice of all of the amazing island beaches and their natural habitats, including Norton’s Beach, Cape Poge, Lighthouse Beach and Bend-in-the-Road Beach. Each one distinct in character and favorites by fishermen or those looking for different ocean sport experiences; swimming, surfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Bicycle paths are well maintained and go from the ferry to Edgartown and to the other island towns. .Finally, Felix Neck is roughly 3 miles from the center of town with hundreds of acres of trails to enjoy nature’s wildlife.
